Disruption meaning:

“disturbance or problems that interrupt an event, activity, or process.”the schedule was planned to minimize disruption”

Most current Popular uses (written 9/7/2018):

“Creative disruption (disruption concept in a creative context) was introduced in 1992 by TBWA’s chairman Jean-Marie Dru. It refers to a radical change in a marketplace brought about by the overturning of existing conventions. The term “creative disruption” has both marketing and business applications.”

Confusion:

Mrs. DseRcv calls her husband by phone in the morning 6:30 that during her travel to her office (1 hr. 30 min one way) using DC metro train (with one change in between) and a bus from metro to office) she slept in the train and missed the destination and drops the phone call. This call was very kind of her because the husband had gone through hell to convince her that she should call at least during the commutes if there is any kind of disruption or events happens in the transit). But better if everyday he is called once during the transit.

The husband tried to reach her by mobile phone, office phone (left messages) for next 2 hours. Office calls record messages and she have not shared a human “name” of contact in an emergency.

This morning she was physically/mentally exhausted, unable to walk straight, in the middle of family member sickness etc.

Particularly, the wife in her 30 years of work commute including the 9/11 event (in Pentagon office) personal experience is definitely a regular significant event.  In the current time USA is in the middle of crisis in safety and security.

Poor husband!
